Blue Sage (Salvia azurea) can often be seen growing across Missouri prairies. My first experience with this wildflower was in 2010 when I discovered some clumps of this beauty, growing on a local prairie near my house. On my recent trip to Prairie State Park, I was surprised to see this “gentle giant” growing rampantly across Regal Prairie. One of the things that has always intrigued me about this wildflower is that, while looking so delicate and dainty, it is quite hardy and will endure pretty harsh conditions.
