Oh, Dear!

… I mean, “Oh, Deer!” Yesterday morning, I grabbed the kayak and drove to an area where I have photographed beavers several times. The morning was crisp (~31F) but I still immensely enjoy getting into the water while I can, before winter sets in. While sitting in the kayak, waiting for some beaver activity to happen, I heard a branch break on the land. Looking to my left, I saw a young White-tailed Deer buck (Odocoileus virginianus) as it made it’s way down the slope to the water’s edge. It was still 30 minutes from sunrise, so it was still dark. But I worked at grabbing some images from the kayak. Here are a few images I captured over the next hour or so (the first image was 30 minutes before sunrise; all other images were made after sun had risen):

I had such a fun time, I think I’ll head back out for some more “beaver photography from the kayak” this morning! :o)
