La Paz (Baja) Harbor Birds

Yesterday’s post featured Brown Pelicans (Pelecanus occidentalis) that were residing in the La Paz harbor. Today’s post includes a few more birds that were seen here, including a Yellow-footed Gull (Larus livens), which also happened to be a “life” bird for me:

Another bird that was pretty common, was the Heermann’s Gull (Larus heermanni). There seemed to be a lot of immature Heermann’s Gulls present along the Baja Peninsula:

And one of the birds I was really wanting to photograph, the Magnificent Frigatebird (Fregata magnificens). Although I saw a lot of the frigatebirds as we progressed along the coastline of the Sea of Cortez, this is the only adult male that I recall seeing (the adult males being all black, with a red throat pouch):

In my next Baja post, I’ll feature another interesting bird that was quite active in the La Paz harbor, a feeding Reddish Egret.
