Feed Me … Now!

While camping in one of the Maroon Bells (Colorado) campgrounds this summer, I was pleased to frequently see an adult Yellow Warbler (Dendroica petechia) with a fledgling always nearby. Several times, I was able to catch the adult feeding the young warbler with insects and wildflower/grass seeds. Here are a few of my favorite images.

In this first image, the adult was busy foraging for food, landing on this colorful aster:

Meanwhile, the youngster was sitting in some nearby shrubs, squawking that he was hungry:

Finally, the adult found some food, found the youngster, and proceeded to feed the starving little mouth:

And in this last feeding photo, you can see the frenzied “body shaking” that young fledglings often do, to attract attention of the parents … aka, “Feed Me … I’m Hungry!” (this image is a bit soft, due to the rapid movements of the fledgling):
