Collecting Nectar

A European Skipper (Thymelicus lineola)butterfly collecting nectar through his proboscis, from a wildflower bloom. This was photographed at the edge of the Bitterroot National Forest, just outside Sula, Montana:

Photo Equipment Used:

  • Canon 7D body
  • Canon 180mm macro lens + Canon 1.4x TC (totalling 252mm)
  • Bogen 3221 Tripod, with Kirk Ent. Ballhead
  • ISO 800 (due to being in a shady area, at the edge of the forest)
  • Aperture f/8
  • Shutter 1/400 sec
