Colorado Rocky Mountain High

From the beaches of Alaska’s Hallo Bay, to the glorious Rocky Mountains of Colorado, I will soon be posting with a little change of pace. My most recent photo journey, capturing the beautiful Bighorn Sheep rams in the annual rut, has been producing some nice images in a very picturesque canyon. Although I have a lot of images to sort through and edit, here is a sneak peak of upcoming posts from the Colorado Rockies.

Between 1 and 2 miles into the canyon, this large ram was seen high above the trail. As I photographed, he began working his way down into the canyon (notice the large, full horns, making a complete revolution. This would age the ram at ~7 years, or older):

Hiking further into the canyon, another ram appeared (note his horns are not as complete as the above ram’s):

… and then another (also younger than the first ram, above):

The first day’s hike was about 7 miles roundtrip, and resulted in very tired and sore feet (for me) … guess I was not destined to be a bighorn sheep!
