The Eyes Have It

During my recent adventures in the Everglades NP (Florida), it was so awesome to get so close to the many birds on the Anhinga Trail, especially the Double-crested Cormorants (Phalacrocorax auritus). Cormorants are beautiful birds, but seeing them up close and personal gives one a new perspective. What am I talking about? The eyes. As one gets close, the wonderful color of the eyes really comes through:

  • Canon 7D body
  • Canon EF100mm-400mm, f/4.5 – f/5.6, IS lens, shot at 400mm
  • Handheld, with IS “On”
  • ISO 500 and 800
  • Aperture f/5.6 and f/8
  • Shutter 1/1250 sec. to 1/4000 sec.
