Shoulder-to-Shoulder with a Prehistoric Bird

Well, maybe not exactly correct, but it sure felt like it! At the same time the White Ibis was foraging along the Anhinga Trail (Everglades NP, Florida), a single Wood Stork (Mycteria americana) also flew in and began to forage along the trail, sometimes just feet away from where I was standing … in awe!

Coincidentally, the wood stork was one of the top birds on my “shot list” that I put together before I started my 4-week Florida photography trip. As things turned out, between Myakka River State Park, and the Everglades NP, I managed to grab some pretty neat stuff! Here are a few from that morning on the Anhinga Trail:

I also captured a little behavioral moment that the wood stork shared with me. I’ll share a sequence of images about that in an upcoming “Fun Friday” post  :o)
