Snowy Egret

Today’s post features some Snowy Egrets (Egretta thula) I photographed while they foraged along the boardwalk at Green Cay Wetlands:

This next egret has a fish in his beak:

Identification of the snowy egret is primarily by the “golden slippers”, differentiating them from the great egret, which has black legs and feet. These birds tend to be quite active when foraging and are quite fun to watch.

Photography Equipment Used:

  • Handheld, with IS “On”

  • Aperture f/5.6 – f/8
  • Shutter 1/250 sec. – 1/8000 sec.
