Yesterday, I took a daytrip to an amazing place in southwest Missouri … Prairie State Park. My goal was to capture spring wildflowers on the prairie, which I did, but also found this cute little guy (I always love their seemingly “happy face”):
It was a bit cool and very windy, and it seemed to help “hold” Mr. Dragonfly in place, allowing me to grab some extreme closeup images. I put together this 16-frame focus-stacked image while he held still for me:
Coming up: some wonderful wildflowers of Prairie State Park! Photographic Equipment Used:
- Canon 7D body
- Canon EF180mm, f/3.5 macro lens
- Bogen 3221 tripod, with Kirk Ent. HD ballhead
- ISO 1000 (top photo) and 500 (focus-stacked image)
- Aperture f/11 (top photo) and f/3.5 (focus-stacked image)
- Shutter 1/60 sec. (top photo) and 1/1600 sec. (focus-stacked image)
Note: I will be setting up my booth later today at the “ArtsFest on Walnut Street” art fair in Springfield, Missouri. If you live nearby, or will be in the area, please stop in and say “Hi”.
