Meadow Fritillary

Another fun subject at last week’s prairie photography workshop was the Meadow Fritillary butterfly (Boloria bellona). The prairie is teaming with these beauties, who eagerly search out wildflowers as nectar plants. Here are a couple of my favorite images of a Meadow Fritillary on a Wild Bergamot wildflower, captured on the Missouri prairie:
