Lake Como

On our last full day of Colorado wildflower photography, we had an all day jeep ride that went high into the San Juan Mountains, eventually ending in Silverton, Colorado. About halfway through the ride, we came upon Lake Como, high in the mountains. This turquoise colored lake was a wonderful sight (note all the jeep trails around the lake and into the mountains):

After leaving Lake Como, we headed upward until we reached the top of California Pass. Looking back, Lake Como was still visible (the road to the left of the lake was where the first photo, above, was taken);

Photographic Equipment Used:

  • Canon 5D Mark 3 body
  • Canon EF28mm-135mm, f/3.5-f/5.6 IS lens, with Circular Polarizer in place
  • Top photo handheld; bottom photo Bogen 3221 tripod with Graff Studioball SB-QR ballhead
  • ISO 200
  • Aperture f/16 (both photos)
  • Shutter 1/20 sec. (top photo) to 1/160 sec. (bottom photo)
