Fun Friday: Practice Time

In a small meadow near Moraine Park, a group of 5 Mule Deer bucks were busy grazing. Every now and again, a couple of the bucks would face off, lock antlers and “playfight” as they get ready for their upcoming rut. After jousting for a few minutes, they would return to grazing. Here are a few images captured of the Mule Deer:

  • Canon 7D body
  • Canon EF100-400mm, f/4.5-f/5.6 IS lens, shot at 400mm
  • Handheld, with IS “On”
  • ISO 400 (this image was captured a little post-sunrise, but before sun hit the meadow)
  • Aperture f/5.6
  • Shutter 1/500 sec. to 1/640 sec.
