One Last Gasp

As fall ushers onto the Missouri prairie, the wonderful Blue Sage (Salvia azurea) is showing off it’s beautiful blue color one last time before it goes to sleep over the winter. One of my favorite wildflowers (I think because the blue is such a spectacular blue), I was a bit surprised to see it still blooming in the crisp, fall temperatures. Here are a few of my favorite captures:

Photographic Equipment Used:

  • Canon 5D Mark 3 body
  • Canon EF180mm, f/3.5 macro lens
  • Bogen 3221 tripod with Graff Studioball SB-QR ballhead
  • ISO 200 (all photos)
  • Aperture f/3.5 (top photo) and f/8 (middle and bottom photos)
  • Shutter 1/200 sec. (top), 1/50 sec. (middle), 1/30 sec. (bottom)
