Those Bloomin’ Bells

Each time I wander the nearby woodlands, I find more and more progress with wildflower blooms. Yesterday, the Bluebells (Mertensia virginica) were beginning to bloom in large groups:

And with the many blooms, I noticed a large increase of pollinators to the wildflowers, particularly to the Bluebells.  On my next workshop to this area (Monday), we’ll try to capture a few images of the pollinators at work.

Photographic Equipment Used:

  • Canon 5D Mark 3 body
  • Canon EF 180mm, f/3.5 macro lens
  • Bogen 3221 tripod, with Giottos ballhead
  • ISO 500
  • Aperture f/3.5
  • Shutter 1/1600 sec. to 1/4000 sec. (light was variable as sun moved in/out of clouds)
