Cleanup Crew At Rest

It’s been an incredible week! The weekend art festival in Stillwater, Oklahoma went extremely well … in most ways. Saturday was probably the best single day I’ve had since I’ve been participating in art shows/festivals the past few years! Sunday, however, was quite different … mostly due to weather issues. We encountered some pesky rain showers a couple of times during Sunday’s show and a little over an hour before the show was to end, organizers came around and told us we needed to take everything down … we had a violent storm approaching, with an ETA of 15 minutes! Anyone who has been to a show I’ve been in knows that 15 minutes is not nearly enough time for me to take my artwork and booth down! But did the best I could!

Things ended up with me loading things into the truck (topper, in place) in steady rainfall and strong, gusty winds … and a dropping temperature. Fortunately, the predicted hail did not materialize :o) But I did have a great show and met lots of new nature lovers and followers. After the show, I stopped at Prairie State Park in southwest Missouri for a couple of days of spring prairie wildflower photography. More images to come from that nice stopover, but for today, I’m posting a couple of images from that location.

While driving around the park, mainly looking for both wildflowers and the resident bison herd, I found this natural sanitation crew, taking a brief rest from their cleanup duties:

Turkey Vulture

Turkey Vulture

The Turkey Vulture is a wonderful sight in the natural world, playing an important role in keeping the ecosystem in balance. Although not “pretty”, or “cute”, they are very unique and have a beauty in their own way!
