Found a few interesting images of foraging Blue-gray Gnatcatchers (Polioptila caerulea) while kayaking at a local Missouri Conservation Area:

The gnatcatchers are always so busy, scurrying from branch to branch looking for small insects that may be on the branches of leaves.

Photographic Equipment Used:

  • Canon 7D body
  • Canon EF 100mm-400mm f/4.5-5.6 IS lens
  • Handheld, with IS “On”
  • ISO 2500 (top photo) and ISO 800 (bottom 2 photos)
  • Aperture f/5.6 (all)
  • Shutter 1/400 sec. (top 2 photos) and 1/4000 sec. (bottom photo)
