Dancing in the Rain

While photographing the covered bridges of Madison County, Iowa, several small trees had wonderful, red fruit on them (persimmon trees?). When the cold rains came down on one of my days there, I went back to the Cedar covered bridge where I had seen these trees, and captured some closeup images with raindrops hanging from the fruit … quite a wonderful sight:

If anyone knows what these are (I suspect persimmon trees), please let me know.

Photographic Equipment Used:

  • Canon 5D Mark 3 body
  • Canon EF 180mm, f/3.5 macro lens + Canon 1.4x Teleconverter
  • Bogen 2021 tripod, with Studioball ballhead
  • ISO 800 and ISO 1600 (depending on light at the time of shooting)
  • Aperture f/3.5 and f/8
  • Shutter 1/15 sec. to f/125 sec.
