Beauty Within

A couple of summers ago, I captured this interesting wildflower as it was beginning to bloom on the local, Missouri prairie:

Missouri Wildlfower beginning to bloom

I’m not sure on the identity, but it looks like it might be a species of Helianthus, quite common in my area. When hiking the prairies, I’m always looking for something “unusual, or out of the ordinary”. When I came upon this beauty as it was beginning to unfurl and show it’s colors to the world, I sat my tripod down and photographed it from several angles/distances for a few minutes. The above image was my favorite!

Photographic Equipment Used:

  • Canon 7D body
  • Canon EF 180mm, f/3.5 macro lens plus Canon 1.4x TC
  • Bogen 3221 Tripod, with ballhead
  • ISO 250
  • Aperture f/8
  • Shutter 1/50 second
