Myakka’s Sandhill Cranes

Myakka River typically has Sandhill Cranes that forage and roost within the park. From the Myakka River bridge, a single crane flew in one morning, just before sunrise, to forage along the river. This post features a few of my favorite images of this bird as it foraged near the river:

Photographic Equipment Used:

  • Canon 5D Mark III body
  • Canon 100-400mm, f/4.5-f/5.6 IS lens
  • Handheld, with IS “On”
  • ISO 1600 (just before sunrise)
  • Aperture f/5.6
  • Shutter 1/250 sec to 1/500 sec.
