In “Yellowstone’s West Thumb, Part 1”, we never made it out of the parking lot! After photographing the wonderful light filtering through the trees and the steam, I headed past the warming hut to the boardwalk that circumnavigates the West Thumb thermal pools. Although it was difficult, I managed to pull out my 3 favorite images (from the many I made that morning) and have included these in this final post from West Thumb.
In this first image, you can see an overall view of the hot thermals as I walked down the boardwalk. In the background, immediately beyond the trees, is the frozen Yellowstone Lake. The last two images were made as I walked around the area:
