Another beautiful duck photographed during last week’s kayaking adventure was the Ring-necked Duck (Aythya collaris). Although one would think that this duck should be called a “Ring-billed Duck”, due to the obvious ring around the bill, this duck really has a ring around the neck … a brown neck ring that is difficult to see. I was sitting in a little cove in the kayak when a drake came swimming by with two hens. Here are some images of them I captured from the kayak:
