Featured Information
Due to my recent move to the Lake of the Ozarks, along with the Covid issues, I am currently not teaching group classes. However, I am available for private individual or very small group, in-the-field teaching, where we can safely learn more about our cameras and our photographic techniques..

Kayaking the Myakka, Part 2
In this second part of my “Kayaking the Myakka”, I’m going to feature a few of the many alligator images I captured from the kayak. But before I share the gator images, here is an image I captured using my cell phone. I think you will see how peaceful it can be kayaking the Myakka […]

Kayaking the Myakka, Part 1
Today’s post is the first of several that feature some images I captured during my kayak adventure down the Myakka River, within Myakka River State Park (MRSP), Florida. I’ve photographed at MRSP during several trips to Florida, and have always dreamed about kayaking up the river into the areas where humans don’t normally travel … […]

Fun Friday: Looking For a Meal
A couple of days ago, I decided to take Rubber Ducky (my kayak) out for a sunrise paddle at a nearby Missouri Conservation Department waterway. It was a wonderful morning … nice and cool, very little wind, a gorgeous sunrise, and a host of hospitable creatures. One of the colorful inhabitants I found was a […]

Faves of 4Q 2016
Fourth quarter began as usual, with foliage showing the signs of fall, such as this Slender Bush Clover found on Snowball Hill Prairie: Not far from the clover, I found 3 Rough Blazing Stars: And I have to include one of my favorite finds at a local hardware store, some fun-loving Mums (which 2 […]

Faves of 2Q 2016
Today’s post features some of my favorite memories and images of nature that I photographed during the months of April, May and June. If you missed the first quarter’s images, you can find them here (“Faves of 1Q 2016”). Now, on to the second quarter! In spring and early summer, I am usually busy photographing […]

Damselfly
On my last kayak outing, I found a Damselfly (species unknown) perched on a plant leaf and hanging over the water. Here are a couple of images I captured of this wonderful insect: The damselfly differs from the dragonfly by the way it carries it’s wings. While the dragonfly lays it’s wings out to either […]

How Foggy Was it?
Good to get back to blogging. Last week I had issues with my satellite internet (my daily “allowance” seemed to just fade away into the big, black hole, and had to stay off the internet until the service company could get it back on track), then my last art show of the year, from Thursday […]

Fogged Up Heron
During last week’s kayak outing in the dense fog at a nearby Missouri Conservation Department natural area, I came upon a pretty cooperative Great Blue Heron that let the kayak get relatively close (I was paddling south, with a light northerly wind at my back, so I let the wind carry the kayak towards where […]

Fun Friday: Lost in the Fog
When the “F-bomb” (fog) came up during Wednesday night’s weather forecast, I decided to take Rubber Ducky out for a little kayak trip on Thursday morning. As far as wildlife, not a lot of action, but will share a few in a subsequent post. But the foggy landscape was quite surreal. As I headed out […]
