Featured Information
Due to my recent move to the Lake of the Ozarks, along with the Covid issues, I am currently not teaching group classes. However, I am available for private individual or very small group, in-the-field teaching, where we can safely learn more about our cameras and our photographic techniques..

Reflection of Beauty
Reflections are always something I watch for when photographing nature. My recent visit to Myakka River State Park was no exception … and I had plenty of opportunities to photograph reflections, such as this Great Egret (Ardea alba), fishing in the Myakka River: The Great Egret is a beautiful bird. But catching one with it’s […]

Fun Friday: Up to Your Armpits in Alligators?
Not really … Not unless you’ve been in this predicament: Birds at Myakka River State Park seemed to not be much afraid of the alligators, often sitting very close to them. I’m sure they were aware and “on guard”, but sure wasn’t obvious! :o) Photo Equipment Used: Canon 7D body Canon EF100mm-400mm, f/4.5-f/5.6 IS lens, […]

Baja, and the “Drunken Sailor Bird”
Today’s post, the last from the beach area of the La Paz harbor, highlights one of my all-time favorite herons, the Reddish Egret (Egretta rufescens). If the title of this post sounds a little strange, be aware that this bird is sometimes called “the drunken sailor bird” due to it’s rather unusual feeding habits. When […]

Fun Friday: “It’s Not the Humidity …”
… It’s the Wind! This Cattle Egret (Bubulcus ibis) was foraging for insects in the refuge grass. Meanwhile, the brisk north wind made him appear like a new species … aka, the “Crested Cattle Egret” :o) Online-Photography-Classes.com

Cattle Egret Foraging for Insects
Yesterday, I posted a couple of images of a small group of Cattle Egrets that were at Squaw Creek NWR a couple of weeks ago (“Where’s the Beef?”). Today’s post shows the egrets as they foraged for food among the taller grasses. I was quite surprised to see that the egrets were actually finding insects […]

Where’s the Beef?!
Today’s post includes some images of Cattle Egrets (Bubulcus ibis) that were photographed during my recent Trumpeter Swan photo trip at Squaw Creek NWR in northwest Missouri. During the 3 days there, we saw a small group of 2-3 every day. Here are a couple of images I made early in the trip: […]
