Due to my recent move to the Lake of the Ozarks, along with the Covid issues, I am currently not teaching group classes. However, I am available for private individual or very small group, in-the-field teaching, where we can safely learn more about our cameras and our photographic techniques..

Missouri Bison
From about a year ago, I photographed a bison herd in Prairie State Park, a beautiful park in southwest Missouri: Always a lot of enjoyment photographing these large beasts!

Spiked Lobelia
After a hectic trip, I’m back home now and with a long, laundry list of things to do (including hitting some of my favorite spots near my home for wildflower and wildlife photography). I had a wonderful art festival in Springfield, Missouri, and met lots of great nature lovers! Saturday was a really busy day, […]

Fun Friday: Can’t Stay Dry!
From last week’s visit to Prairie State Park (in the nearly constant rain): Getting ready to head out to Shaw Nature Reserve (outside St. Louis, MO). Checking out the wildflowers, then attending a “Wildflower Seed Collection/Conservation” class. Back with more posts on Monday :o)

Fun Friday: FOY Clearwing Moth
This past week, while photographing wildflowers in a rainy mist at Prairie State Park, I was hiking through a thick bed of wet clover while making my way towards some Flowering Dogwood trees that were in bloom. While maneuvering the thick clover, I scared up a Clearwing Moth. Being wet and a rainy mist still […]
Seeing Stars
After a week of being “off-line”, I’m now back home and ready to continue making and sharing nature images. I had a successful, although shortened art festival in Stillwater, Oklahoma (torrential downpours caused the show to be canceled for last Sunday, so it ended up being a 1-day show). On the way home, I stopped […]

Scissor-tailed Flycatchers
Today, I’m featuring some images of the Scissor-tailed Flycatchers (Tyrannus forficatus). I love watching these beautiful birds, with such long tails. Here are a few of my favorite images from my recent stop at Prairie State Park in southwest Missouri: So beautiful, yet such a struggle to fly, as I shared in yesterday’s post. All […]

Fun Friday: Needed, Brazilian Butt Lift
During my last trip to Prairie State Park in southwest Missouri, I looked for the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher (Tyrannus forficatus). Found a few in a scenic location of the park … in an unplowed field that had a lot of Yellow Rocket wildflowers. But today’s Fun Friday post is about the akward flight these lovely birds […]

Somewhere, Under the Rainbow
While trying to find Scissor-tailed Flycatchers at Prairie State Park, some dark clouds drifted overhead, followed by a few showers. At the time of the showers, I was thinking “it sure would be nice to have a lovely rainbow appear!”. Just a couple of minutes later, I looked to the eastern skies and there it […]
