What’s the Weather Like Up There?

One unexpected bird I found at Myakka River State Park (Florida) was the Black-necked Stilt (Himantopus mexicanus). These large shorebirds have distinctively long, thin legs and needlelike bills. Awesome birds that I don’t get to see very often:

  • Canon 7D body
  • Canon EF100mm-400mm, f/4.5-f/5.6 IS lens, at 400mm
  • Handheld, with IS “On”
  • ISO 400
  • Aperture f/8
  • Shutter 1/320 sec. – 1/400 sec.
