Black Bear Pass

Well, I’m back home after an exhausting ~4 weeks on the road … but what a trip! Thanks to all for the kind comments, retweets and “Likes” while I was gone, especially the past few days when I’ve not been able to publish to Twitter or Facebook … if you went directly to my blog page to keep abreast of my travels, I hope you enjoyed the blog posts during the time I was away from the internet.

Today’s post is from one of my favorite stops along the photo tour … Black Bear Pass in southwest Colorado, just outside Ouray. After a jeep ride into the high country, we were sitting on what looked and felt like the top of the world. Here are a couple of my favorite landscapes from Black Bear Pass, a meadow covered with wildflowers and a mountain stream winding down the mountain and through the landscape:

We spent a half day on Black Bear Pass … but still not enough to get my fill! More Black Bear Pass images to come.

  • Canon 5D Mark 3 body
  • Canon EF28-135mm, f/3.5-f/5.6 IS lens, at 95mm (top photo) and at 135mm (bottom photo)
  • Bogen 3221 tripod with Graff Studioball SB-QR ballhead
  • ISO 400
  • Aperture f/22 (both photos)
  • Shutter 1/25 sec. (top photo) and 1/60 sec. (bottom photo)
