What Would You Do?

While photographing wildflowers in Colorado’s San Juan Mountains, I was based in Ouray, Colorado. Inside the city limits, just a few blocks from where I was staying, is a beautiful waterfall, Cascade Falls. Easily accessible, it is located in a small park just a block away from the main drag of town. From the parking lot, it is a short (1/4 mile) walk to get to the falls.

I was really surprised to walk around a bend in the trail and see how tall the waterfall was!

Cascade Falls

As I’m sure you can see, it is a lot taller than the normal waterfall we often find. Shooting the waterfall in it’s entirety, as I’ve done above, gives a good sense for it’s towering height, but does not really “show off” it’s wonderful attributes and character. So, I’m asking you how you would photograph it?

Tomorrow, I’ll show you some more images of the Cascade Falls and how I decided to “break it down and show it off”.  :o)

Photographic Equipment Used:
