After my early morning shoot of the “near Venus-Moon occultation”, I decided to hike around the prairie and see what was going on. One thing for sure, it was quite cold! Temperatures were just below freezing and everything was looking like a winter wonderland. Not a lot of wildlife activity, but here are some early morning images I captured:
One thing I noted was the large quantity of owls (mostly Great Horned, with a single Barred) that were present, particularly as I photographed the Venus-Moon interaction before sunrise. So, I may try to get back out there in a few days and see if I can photograph some of these wonderful birds of prey. And speaking of owls, I received an e-mail on Monday that let me know the Barn Owls are now back in the barn where I built/installed a nest box (and now have a trail cam located there for documenting these rare birds). Will likely go over next week and change the batteries/SD card, and check out the activity myself! :o)
