A Cause for Eye Strain

Today’s post features a bird that likes to hide among the rocks of Mt. Evans, in Colorado. The White-tailed Ptarmigan wears a great coat of feathers that hides him against the rocks as he forages … in the summer months. However, in winter, that coat changes to a white coat that hides him in the snow! Thus, quite difficult to spot one, anytime of the year! Here are a couple of my favorite images:

As you can see, he hides quite well!

  • Canon 7D Mark 2 body
  • Canon 100-400mm, f/4.5-f/5.6 IS lens
  • Handheld, with IS “On”
  • ISO 400
  • Aperture f/8
  • Shutter Speed 1/30 sec. and 1/50 sec.
