Today’s post features a shot I captured while kayaking the creek at Amarugia Highlands CA (Missouri) a few years ago. As I paddled the creek, I saw this Barred Owl as it feasted on some morsel for breakfast.
Just recently, when I edited a lot of older images, I found that the prey looks to be a mole … guess the owl caught him before the mole returned to his burrow:
