Unforgettable Adventure

Today’s post features a group of Mountain Goats that I encountered while hiking around Mount Evans, Colorado, a few years ago.

As I hiked over the rocky terrain, taking in the glorious scenery, I noticed a group of Mountain Goats that were heading towards me. I decided to find a nice, flat rock to sit on and see (while photographing, of course) if they continued towards me. It didn’t take long to find out. As I watched and photographed, this adult soon popped over the rocks ahead of me … all while intently checking me out:

Then I saw a small group of young kids working their way up behind her:

Fast forward a couple of minutes and the group of kids were standing on a large rock, directly in front of me:

They didn’t show any fear of me at all … only curiosity.

I’m sure they encountered humans before me. But it is so awesome to have our wild brothers and sisters view us at close range, and with no apparent fear. Gee, I guess we all can get along together if we try!
