On one of my recent prairie hikes, I found a new wildflower for me … Gerardia (Agalinis tenuifolia):
This flower is in the figwort family and has many branches, forming a dense bushy plant that grows to 2-feet high. This wildflower must have a rather short life … when I returned to the prairie 5 days layer, there was no sign that they were ever growing there!
