A Small Beauty

Well, I’m back in the (indoors) office! Missed not posting last week, but had a plethora of things going on … maintaining my Ozarks (Missouri) butterfly garden, shopping and planting new plants, and having some real fun watching our Canada Goose dock nest (yes, a pair of geese nested in a large flower pot on our dock, again this year!) progress and the goslings as they left the nest and took their first plunge into the Lake of the Ozarks … photos will be coming soon!

Today’s post features another woodland glades wildflower I recently encountered while hiking the woodland trails of Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park, located in the Missouri Ozarks.

Although the woodland Phlox seemed to be few and far between, I did run across this lovely plant, filled with blooms and more buds to open:

The great “Spring Awakening” is always so wonderful to experience!  And the beauty of these purple wildflowers in a spring, woodland environment always signify the life around us, when we take the time to visit nature.

Coming up, another “lifer” wildflower I photographed during this same trip … and this year’s class of Gosling babies!
