An Intimate Day with the Great Blue Heron

More photos from the Venice Rookery coming up, but I want to share some intimate photos of Great Blue Herons that I made on the Anhinga Trail, in Everglades NP. I have always wanted to visit the Everglades, and this past month I was finally able to delete this one from my bucket list! :o)

My main focus in the Everglades was the Anhinga Trail, where many species of birds and lots of gators call home. And the birds are so tame that you can nearly walk up to them! This allowed some really nice intimate shots with some of the birds and today’s post features some with Great Blue Herons. Here are just a few of the many images I captured on the Anhinga Trail:

Besides these beauties, I was also able to capture some really close portraitures of Anhingas and Double-crested Cormorants. Watch for those in the upcoming days.
