Beeeeutiful!

Yesterday morning, I made a quick hike around the nearby prairie to scout for my upcoming Native Missouri Wildflower and Prairie Creatures workshop. In a word, “Wonderful”! There are a lot of different species of wildflowers in bloom right now, as well as prairie insects. Of particular beauty was the Green Metallic Bees (species not identified) that were busy foraging for nectar on some Spiderwort wildflowers:

The only thing we need now is for the rain to hold out long enough for us to make some wonderful images tomorrow morning! But if it doesn’t, we’ll go with our backup plan of shooting Tuesday morning, when the rain has cleared out!

Photographic Equipment Used:

  • Canon 7D body
  • Canon EF180mm, f/3.5 macro lens + Canon 1.4x TC
  • ISO 400
  • Aperture f/6.3
  • Shutter 1/250 sec. to 1/320 sec.
