Today’s post features a project I’ve been working on for a while. In late August, I found a Monarch butterfly egg on a milkweed leaf, in my butterfly garden. I removed the leaf and placed it inside a mesh butterfly cage in the garage.
When the caterpillar was close to hatching (as evidenced by the head turning black, inside the egg) I set up a camera and captured hundreds of images, at short intervals, so I could put together a time-lapse video of a caterpillar hatching from it’s egg.
