Black-eyed Beauties

Black-eyed Susans (Rudbeckia hirta) are growing rampant around my rural area this summer … I believe all the rain we’ve received (and continue to get, although not quite as frequently now) has really given these guys a growth spurt! These images were captured the other morning, in a field of wildflowers that is just about 0.3 miles from my home:

The Black-eyed Susans are always a sure sign of summer!

Photographic Equipment Used:

  • Canon 5D Mark 3 body
  • Canon EF 180mm, f/3.5 macro lens + Canon 1.4x TC
  • Handheld
  • ISO 500
  • Aperture f/6.3 to f/16 (to get varying depth of field)
  • Shutter 1/20 sec. to 1/1200 sec.
