Don’t Burst My Bubble!

From a local kayak trip in 201o, I found this unique and interesting bubble in the middle of a creek I was kayaking, on a Missouri Conservation Area near my home:

Although this might look like a full, circular bubble, please note that the bottom half is simply a reflection of the top (above water) half. And you can see the sun was out, by the reflection from the middle portion of the bubble.

Photographic Equipment Used:

  • Canon1D Mark 3 body
  • Canon EF 100mm-400mm, f/4.5-5.6 IS lens, with Canon 1.4x TC, shot at 540mm
  • Handheld from a kayak, with IS “On”
  • ISO 800 (used high ISO to maintain fast shutter speed, since I was in the kayak)
  • Aperture f/8
  • Shutter 1/3200 sec.
