During my woodland stroll this past Saturday morning, I found a new wildflower blooming, Blue Phlox. I had observed tiny plants emerging, during earlier woodland wildflower photography sessions, but Saturday was the first day I caught them starting to bloom. Here are a few of my favorite images:
In this next image, the plant is just starting to bloom. Before the bloom appears, it starts as a “twisted bud” of blue, then unfurls to show it’s “windmill-like” petals of blue/lavendar:
At this time, there are many, small clumps of this colorful wildflower blooming. But if last year is an accurate predictor of this year, give it another week and the clumps will be awe-inspiring! Can’t wait to see what it looks like :o)
