Today’s “Fun Friday” post was captured earlier this week, while kayaking a local Missouri Conservation Area. With several species of warblers now in the area, I was photographing Yellow Warblers and Prothonotary Warblers from the kayak. One Prothonotary Warbler was very active, hunting insects/spiders around the trees that are standing in the creek. It was quite interesting to watch this little guy actively foraging for a little snack:
Flying to a dead tree that was standing in the creek, the male Prothonotary Warbler landed just outside a large cavity in the tree:
“Hello, anyone home?”
He definitely was hungry for a snack … he thoroughly checked out the entire cavity!
With no insect, he begins to emerge:
Time to find another tree to check out!
The behavior of these little beauties is always so interesting to watch!
