Goin’ Green

 Over the past week, the muskrats (Ondatra zibethicus) have been very busy getting their nests ready … seems love is in the air everywhere right now! As I sat in the kayak, I watched at least 2 different muskrats as they would surface near the bank, then swim by me as they go all the way across the cove and disappear around a diked area to another pool. Usually, within 10 minutes or so, they would reappear with nesting materials. Here are a few images I captured of their activity:

That was fun to watch, but the next little guy coming through about cracked me up. Looks like he is carrying a flag!
