While looking through some older images, I found this interesting one of an extremely large and active mob of blackbirds. While photographing at Squaw Creek NWR in northwest Missouri, I came upon the active birds at around sunset. I especially love the crispness of the tree and perched birds, while the slow shutter speed rendered the in-flight birds as interesting blurs and shapes:
Looking forward to some more shoots at Squaw Creek. With colder weather setting in, the geese (snows and Canadas) will be arriving soon, with numbers often ~600,000 or so. And, of course, the geese are followed closely by Bald Eagles :o)
