Hot as a Firecracker!

Today’s post features a couple of landscape photographs I captured during one of my photo trips to South Dakota’s Badlands National Park. The Badlands area is very diverse, and depending on when you visit, you can experience bitterly cold winds, or a landscape with dry, parched grounds that pretty much supports only wildflowers and some prairie grasses.

Here are a couple of images I captured while hiking around the area, after the hot sun fell behind a large rock formation, a couple of years ago:

Photographic Equipment Used:

  • Canon 1D Mark 3 body
  • Canon 28-135mm, f/4.5- f/5.6 IS lens, both shot at 135mm
  • Handheld, with IS “On”
  • ISO 400
  • Aperture f/11 and f/16
  • Shutter Speed 1/40 sec. and 1/100 sec.
