A while back, I began posting some wildflower images from a spring trip I made in 2012, to Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park. This park is located in southeast Missouri, not far from the Missouri “bootheel”. Today’s post includes a few images I made of the “shut-ins”, the rock formations in the shallow water. This was my first trip to the state park. I had heard a lot about it, but also heard that it was very crowded in summer. So, I decided to visit in the spring, when less people would be around. The shut-ins are situated on the East Fork of the Black River, and offer a “water playground” for kids of all ages:
After visiting the area, I can understand why it is so crowded in summer … children love to play among the shallow, rushing water here!
