Kasaan Village, Alaska (Part 2)

Last week I posted some images of the long house and totems, from Kasaan Village, Alaska. Today’s post, Part 2, contains more totems found in the old growth forest surrounding the long house.

This first totem depicts a bear, a bit weather-beaten, but still in reasonably good shape:

And another nearby totem depicted a whale:

And a few unknown/multiple subject totems:

Our time at Kasaan Village was short, maybe 2-3 hours. We were on a “quick tour” … red flag warnings and small boat advisories were out for later in the day and overnight, so Captain Ronn put the “petal to the metal” to get Delphinus to the safety of a sheltered cove for the evening. We were nearing Ketchikan, but the distance was just too great to chance getting caught in the approaching storm!
