Another wonderful, little wildflower currently growing at Prairie State Park is the Prairie Blue-eyed Grass (Sisyrinchium campestre). Although this colorful plant can grow up to 2-feet tall, it is usually found at shorter heights, this one being about 12″. The flowers are small and contain blue 6-pointed stars that can be variable in size. A small, but beautiful prairie plant!
After tomorrow’s “Fun Friday” post, I’ll share some more wonderful spring/early summer wildflowers that are blooming at Prairie State Park. I’ve also got some recent wildlife images from this week’s kayak trips that I will be featuring.
