About a week ago, I walked around our property to check the bluebird houses. One house was occupied by Eastern Bluebirds (Sialia sialis), which happens to be our state bird. I took a quick photo of the newborn babies (not sure, but looked like 5 in the nest), closed up the nest and left so that Mom and Dad Bluebird would not become annoyed at me. I’m hoping to head back out when the rain stops and put up my blind so I can photograph the parents bringing in food to the youngsters. And I’m hoping to catch the little birds when they fledge the nest. Here is the quick grab shot I made (using my Pentax Optio W60 point-and-shoot camera):
