My BFF (ButterFly Friend) happens to be a Red-spotted Purple that, along with Viceroys, are dominating my new butterfly garden that I planted last fall. I do have a few others that are busy collecting nectar from the garden, but the Red-spotted Purples and Viceroys are the dominant butterflies at this time. Here are a few of my favorite images of the Red-spotted Purple that I captured over the past few days:
In subsequent posts I’ll share other species of butterflies active now, as well as any other that shows up in the coming weeks (fall tends to attract a lot of butterflies and moths to my native plants).
