Pollinators At Work

Late last fall, I began digging and planting a new Butterfly Garden, just outside my front porch at my rural Missouri home. This spring, it still needs some more plants added and some more work, but it is already attracting pollinators, such as this Bumble Bee:

Besides a lot of Bumble Bees, a few butterflies and even some dragonflies/damselflies are attracted to this garden whenever the sun is out. This spring, I added 3 Butterfly Weed plants, several Black-eyed Susans, 2 red Butterfly Bushes, and 2 yellow Butterfly Bushes. I’m hoping they start blooming by next year.

Photographic Equipment Used:

  • Canon 5D Mark 3 body
  • Canon EF 100-400mm, f/4.5-f/5.6 telephoto lens + Canon 1.4X TC, totaling 560mm used
  • Handheld
  • ISO 800
  • Aperture f/8
  • Shutter 1/400 sec.
